God has sent to Calvary a gift; Elder Jacob Bernard Turner is a Holy Spirit– filled and Holy Spirit-led preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Elder Turner was born in Macon, Georgia, and attended High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He accepted his call to ministry in 1998 at Innovation Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Florida under the leadership of Pastor Jack P. Leland. During this time Elder Turner received his license to preach. He developed a residential recovery ministry for men overcoming drug and alcohol abuse that had entangled him for thirteen years. This ministry, named The Starting Point, has helped more than 300 men overcome alcohol and drug addiction through the Power of Jesus Christ In October 2000, Elder Turner was Ordained at Christ Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville Florida, under the leadership of Dr. Walter H. Johnson. In 2001, Pastor Turner was called to Pastor in Port Arthur, Texas. While in Port Arthur he partnered with the Golden Triangle Baptist Convention and the Baptist General Convention of Texas to form Exodus Bible Church– Port Arthur. This ministry grew to more than seventy members and focused on Spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Preparing Christians for Leadership. Also, while in Texas, Elder Turner established The Starting Point– Port Arthur, Texas. Within a three—year period, the ministry assisted one hundred thirty men in overcoming alcohol and drugs. In November 2010 Elder Turner assisted in uniting 17 small and mid-size churches into a cooperative fellowship, that assisted each other Evangelize and provide resources to the unchurched and unsaved. In December of 2017 Elder Turner reunited with the Innovation Baptist Church family and served God faithfully as a member of the Ministerial Alliance, under the leadership of Pastor Jack P. Leland, until he received and accepted the call to Pastor Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Elder Turner is a man of vision, leadership, and integrity. He is married to Latonya Cunningham Turner, of Orlando, Florida. Elder Turner is the father of six children, Josiah, Jeremiah, Jacob, Joshua, Jazeel, and Saharah.
